Dr Chris Sandom is a Senior Lecturer in Biology at the University of Sussex and specialises in restoration ecology and rewilding.
Chris also set up Rewilding Sussex, a community group to engage people with rewilding locally. One project being managed by the group is Love Your Scrub, a project to expand scrub habitat on the University of Sussex campus.
You might not think that a university campus would be the first place for hedgehogs and badgers to make their regular hangout.
In this HOUR for the passionate and the curious about nature and rewilding, Dr Chris Sandom, Senior Lecturer in Biology at the University of Sussex and founder of Rewilding Sussex will take us on a mini expedition through campus to the University’s own rewilding site.
Rub shoulders with local wildlife, learn about rewilding and its role as an integral part of the sustainability agenda in conservation. You’ll also hear how Chris and the team are transforming public attitudes towards rewilding and their research on the link between rewilding and food security. You might need sturdy shoes!
